What order should foods be introduced in?

There is no single perfect order for introducing foods.

A practical approach is:

  • start with single-ingredient foods that are easy to swallow
  • include a variety of vegetables, fruits, grains, beans, tofu, meat, fish, and eggs over time
  • include iron-rich foods early
  • do not delay common allergens just because they are allergens; once your baby is ready for solids, they can usually be introduced in small amounts, one at a time

It can also help to offer vegetables early, not just sweet foods.
